Miss Miss, I'm a size 18?

Last week, high street giant Marks and Spencer a Plus-Sized Back to School Range.
As childhood obesity is sadly ever on the increase in the UK, M&S have been slated for 'cashing in' on a problem which many critics are perhaps scared to talk about.
The range for starting at tots as young as 3 include blazers and trousers for 4yr olds with up to a 32" waist (that of an average sized 8 yr old) and some uniforms even stretching to an adult size 18.
'Marksy's' responded to the comments claiming that they were simply responding to a high level on consumer demand.
Worrying enough as this epidemic is, are these children expected to go to school in uniforms that are too small for them?? Madness.

Fda Fashion Exhibition, O2 Academy Bournemouth.

Remember that MASSIVE show in June that was making me pull my hair out last term out last term?
Well I have to tell you that it was a lot of fun....in the end.

Sticking to the Black an White theme, Fda and BA shared the Gallery mixing our separate structure together.

These three boxes were our projections. We had videos of our profiles and slick images of our work, which I will upload when I get hold of ‘em. Muchos thanks to the Digital Media Production guys who worked their bums off. The Cubes had projections on each side and looked very cool. We also had our work displayed. Very simple, white plinths and intimate lighting.

The Fashion Shows highlighted the fantastic work the designers have done on their collections. A cool outcome of 60’s brights and Art Deco chic. Some serious hard work was clear and not to mention a innovative water display behind the catwalk.....

Blondie: 62 Years Platinum (19/6/10)

I HAVE been a lucky girl this Summer.
Getting to see Blondie at the 02 Acadamy, Bournemouth was a big tick off my imaginary ‘TO DO’ list. I’m sure I’m not the only woman fascinated by Debbie Harry’s unique style and edgy look. Unfortunately I’ve only managed the hair.
Their ‘Endangered Species’ tour graced the O2 was an exciting combination of golden oldies an new material, however, the classics were what everybody came to see.
‘Call Me’, ‘Atomic’ and ‘One Way or Another’ really went off with Chris Stein performing a seriously slick guitar solo. However, they missed out some absolute belters like 'Rip Her to Shreds’ which was a bit disappointing. They sounded good, but the focus was on their new album which does sound like a triumph.
But one thing remained as it was in the 70’s. Ms Harry’s voice was second to none. She still had that cool, husky tone making 'Tide is High’ as sweet and meloydic as always but she can still, at 62, rock out as ferociously as we all remember the queen of punk to do.
She was sporting a brave Gaga-esque wig, long and platinum. Full of attitude, dressed all in black with a gorgeous oversized belt and long circle skirt. Not quite the ripped jeans and micro micro shorts but still unmistakably the epitome of cool.

Where dreams are made....

Man does it suck to be in the UK. Generally, I am quite the patriotic however, it is hard to be when you've had a holiday as I have had.
We did the All American Vacation to Orlando, Florida. We did the cliche things of standing outside Cinderella’s castle, eating until we couldn’t move and buying tat for our mum’s back home. And do you know what? It was the best holiday I have ever had.
Here are some snaps.

Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside (Our Gaff)

Magic Kingdom’s Independace Day Fireworks - this was the most incredible experience. Truly emotive display, patriotic and brilliant. Timed perfectly to music and commentary, fireworks seemed to dance in the sky in sequence. Highlight to the holiday of a lifetime.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - as the BIGGEST HP fan in the universe I had mega expectations. Again, J.K did not disappoint. I won’t be one of those darn spoilers but I will say, Hogwarts brought me to tears. The attention to detail was stunning and Harry Potter and The Forbidden Journey is a breath-taking example of new ride technology and must not be missed in your lifetime.

I got a kiss from Bert!

Shamu Rocks, Seaworld.

Hello again...and....BLOG OF THE MONTH>

Sorry for the delay folks, have been a wee bit preoccupied finishing Fda Fashion and stressfully entered the Fashion Design and Technology Top Up. I achieved a 2:1 by the way, very very very happy and thus celebrated by going to Florida for two weeks. Yep, DisneyWorld, Seaworld, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (eeeeek!) the whole shebang! But more on that later...

In other news, I want everyone who reads this to vote for Amelia's Fashion Land for Blog Of The Month......
