Pure 2010

Pure 2010. The UK's largest trade fashion fair showcasing womenswear and creative mens, womenswer and childrenswear, accessories and millenery.
Amazing. As a Pure virgin, I was amazed to find a phenomenal array of beautiful designs and an enormous arena full of 10,000 smart, successful and very cool fashion buyers on a serious mission. Very daunting for me.

But I had no time for that. No. I had a job to do. I had to source a new look for Fab Frocks of Westbourne. I had to approach a new supplier/existing supplier with an new collection.
And that I did.
After locating and going over the occasionalwear section, I set my sights on 12 potential suppliers that I thought Tracey might go for.
Time to approach them. Aaaah.
.....
And 2 hours later I felt confident talking to suppliers, getting information that I needed for Fab Frocks and let them know exactly what we were looking for.

I really feel this was a crucial point in my devellopment as a fashion professional and Pure was a perfect, thrown in the deep end moment!

Wedding Show BIC

Our Great Father Is Dead....

Very sad to hear that 'the hooligan of British Fashion', Alexander McQueen has committed suicide, aged 40.
The success story of McQueen started aged just 16, when he left school with no qualifications landing himself an apprenticeship with Saville Row tailors Anderson and Shepherd and then going on to work for Gieves & Hawkes.
Lee Alexander McQueen then attended the highly prestigious fashion school, Central St. Martins College of Art and Design where influential fashion stylist Isabella Blow bought the entire collection. She also sadly passed away in 2007.
His shows were one of a kind theatrical and brutally sharp.

Tragically, McQueen's death has been announced just a week before London Fashion Week and only a month before he was set to unveil his new collection in Paris.
Today the world lost one of the most esteemed fashion designers in the world. 'L'enfant terrible' the french nickname given to him due to is controversial influences and
unique and globally recognisable fashion creations.

On a personal level I have studied and admired McQueen's work for years. His work truly got me interested in fashion studies and was a breath of fresh air to students like myself who havn't grown up on Mummy and Daddy's dollar.

Is this a product of an unforgiving fashion industry? If so, might there need someone else to change it? I'd hate to be the new kid on the block of innovative and shocking fashion. Theyve got some boots to fill. RIP.

Nobody put popcorn in the corner...

Just got back from my Fda Fashion fundraiser and might I say it was quite a success! Not a massive turn out this week for one reason or another but for those that did turn up had a wicked time!

Working after hours is FAB!

Life as a second year is go-go-go, and might I say that my shiny new filofax is rather full.
And yes I am blogging rather late tonight. I've just been to Fab Frocks for another meeting with (the coolest business head) Tracey. We discussed what she would like to buy in for the younger audience whom she is trying to target.
I was also allowed to photograph any garments for my look book.
Fab Frocks is a triumph. A successful 7 year story for Tracey is down to hard work, long hours and smart choices and I hope I don't let her down in my project.
As for my photo's I'll give you a sneak peak....
